I was looking for boat parts and came upon this video and the reminder that  one year ago today the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico happened.




This Spring there've been alot of nice people who've come to visit the beaches on the Gulf.

Then I got to thinking....



There used to be an Amtrak rail service along the Gulf of Mexico (from Gulfport MS to New Orleans for sure). 

There used to be an Amtrak rail service from the Gulf of Mexico up through the central part of the US.


Couldn't we have that service back?

With gas at almost 4 and 5 dollars a gallon?

I'm delighted to see folks come to the Gulf of Mexico. It's helping people who really didn't have a great summer.

But I'm worriedd.

If the gas goes up this summer, will they stop coming to see us?

Maybe we need an alternate plan just in case.


They used to have rail service .


Can we get it back?
