"...The next day the Sun shone bright.

Brighter than the day before

The birds sang and the morning sky was blue.

How could they be so mean.

Didn't the Sun know that the world had stopped.

Birds.

Hold still your voice.

There is a shadow on my feet.

A hole in my heart.

Dark cataracts cover my eyes.

I tear my hair and throw myself to the ground.

Cover my ears to the sounds of life.

How can you sing
when my heart lies in the ground with the ones I love."

c anne ford

9-12-11

The thing that you learn when someone you love dies is that the world keeps on turning.

People will laugh.
The Sun will shine.
The sky will be in turns sunny and gray,
It's life.

And though you might not think so?

You do laugh.

It sneaks up on you.

It comes from somewhere that didn't disappear.

Like good friend it sits with you thought the tears and anger and the frustration.

When you yell , "Why?"

It whispers, "I don't know."

When you can't sleep, it tells you stories.

When you don't eat, it says, "Just a bite, please."

And on that day when you lay there covered in dispare and you say, "I can't."

It gently says,

"Yes, you can."

Then one day  you forget a little and the sun shines on your face and somewhere you begin to notice that the world is full of laughter.

Other folks are hurting too..."

.And you get up.

Older.

Wiser.

You can see the pain in the world and you stop looking inward.

And you ask,

"How can I help."

.

Yesterday?

We turned off the television.

It wasn't because we wanted to forget.

It was because.

The thing is.

In our heart?

Love?

Is the only antidote for the sadness of this world.

A little candle.

Sometimes it flickers in the darkness.

But it's still there for someone to see.

Just in case someone needs a hand.

So we turned off the tv.

And we went to get some ice cream.

Trying hard to block out the world of sad memories.

But life happens.

As it will.

Yesterday, I stopped trying to block out the Sun and the rain.

Yesterday, I entered the river and did my best to help.

.

"... How can the world still spin.

How can the birds still sing.

Did God forget me?

No.

He taught me so that when a child cried.

When a father cried.

I could be there to help.

.

Thank you to the fire fighters, the police, the paramedics, and the kind souls who can see beyond their own lives to see and help others.

How lucky we are that you are in this world.

I didn't forget you yesterday.

I won't forget you today.

.

People are living because of what you do.

For all the anger that we see in this world?

Because of your brave kindness?

I know.

"Love's the only house big enough for all the pain in the world."

Hugs.

.

.I have great admiration for the very brave men and women who show up everyday to help others.

I can't do what you do/

I don't know how.

But I thank the good Lord above that you know how.

You are really and truly amazing.

Thank you.

Happy birthday Freddy Mercury.

,.

I know that it might seem a blantant plea for relationship advice but actually it's alittle different.

It's a happy birthday wish to Freddy Mercury.

And

It's also a kind wish to some folks who are helping kids find a home and showing them a bit of the world at the same time.

Hugs a kid.

Even better if you can?

Give them a home.

Cause everybody can use a place to be.

Hugs ya'll

Hope your day is NOT bad.

My Brother The Deer Hunting Enviromentalist.

by Author Ann

My brother has been shooting at animals since he was 11 and skinning fish since he was 4.

His house? It looks like a natural history museum for deer parts.

He tells folks that he only shoots for for the table. Even donates deer meet to folks down on their luck.

This hunting for necessity doesn't explain the two huge bear pelts from an organized bear hunt.

His oldest child is the same.

Talks about hunting all the time. Goes all over on hunts with his dad.

Someone even wanted to pay for them to go on a safari to Africa.

Together they father and child bond while looking for signs of horney deer.

And people here say, "What a wonderful thing!"

(They're talking about bonding over hunting and shooting animals.)

Have you ever looked at a life white tail in the eyes?

I have.

Then there's his youngest child.

This child is amazing.

He told his dad that he didn't want to hunt. Wasn't his thing his little kid voice said.

But they pestered until one day

He went with them to deer hunt and he shot a 10 point.

First and only deer hunt he ever went on.

First and only deer he ever shot.

That deer was a beast. Huge.

The oldest couldn't believe the younger's luck.

But the youngest said, " That's enough and maybe even too much for me.."

Afterwards he told them that would be the end of hunting for him. He'd rather ride is dirt bike.

To my knowledge? He's never gone back.

If you talk to my brother, he'll tell you all about how he cares for those deer who's heads are on his wall. He'll tell you that he takes care of the environment and how shooting those deer are important to the "circle of life". He'll tell you about how Bambi is some character in a kids movie.

But if you ask his youngest? He'll tell you that Bambi is a metaphor for all living things and how we should care for them by being kind.

.

Dogs barking. We're told that we have coyote problem. We're also told that we have a mountain lion problem.

I'm told that if  that mountain lion attacks my dogs and I shoot it? I can get arrested for harming a protected species.

I'm also told that if I shoot a coyote that's attacking my dogs?, I'm fine to do so because it's considered a danger to my pets..

Me? I'm just hoping that we all survive.

This is one crazy world.

Sons and Daughters of Panarchy

Unicorn pandemic and tales of panarchy?
Flame throwing tanks and nekkid peace nicks?
All ending up around a pheonix fire?
Tales of paying forward and random kindness.
All for tickets that cost more -
More than rent.
More than a weeks groceries.
More wear and tear and cost of fuel to get there only to find that the only cars allowed are in the art work.
All on a piece of land with the same name as a security contractor in Iraq.

c anne ford  8-29-11,  from Sons and Daughters of Panarchy. A Collection of  Stories and Poems the New Millenium

It's the first night of Burning Man,

No, I'm not there. This was written at home.

I'm actually at home reading about how the Food Bank is planning for the increased need for their services.  I read that Burning Man has been a for profit festival that charged from 200 to 300 dollars a ticket to get in. Once in you are asked to "pay it forward" by being helpful to one another.  While I'm reading this I'm thinking how with one dollar Food Bank can buy groceries. Imagine what they could do with the price of a ticket and the cost of fuel to get there and how folks are flying in airplanes and then taking the pledge not to use fossil fuels while there. I'm reading that people attending Burning Man are asked to do acts of kindness. Then I read that theres been a 30 percent increase this year in the number of people using Food Bank.

I think about the folks who lost everything in last spring's tornado and how Food Bank helped.

And how politicos and capitalist flew private jets to a conference about solving environmental crisis world wide.

Decided to have my own party in my heart. Cost of a ticket?  A hug.

I read the Vogue for the articles.

I really do.

I know what you're thinking.  You're thinking, "I don't care what you read and what tha heck does that video have to do with reading Vogue?"  Then you delete and perhaps delist me on Twitter.. As you're doing so you may  also   be thinking that I read Vogue like you might read Playboy."

To you I say?

"Nothing"

The video has absolutely nothing to do with reading Vogue other than I got side tracked AND I couldn't find a good copy of  Angel is a Centerfold by J Geils Band.  I could, however, find a perfectly excellent video of The Three Stooges' dancing to Whammer Jammer. I thought that it was actually a song about the Crimson Tide (Univ of Alabama)'s foot ball cheer. It was not but  the J Girls Band did record  both the Angel IS a Centerfold and Wammer Jammer so I posted it.

Hope you don't have power loss.

Any typos are due to I haven't gone to sleep and I'm too tired to bother with it.

Going to sleep now.

Who says.

. Hey Ya'll.

All together now.

Welcome to 12dots and a blot.

This is a writer's blog.

Fact and fiction co-exist here.

If you don't know which is which?

Don't ASSume.

Ask.

For a very long time I was tethered to a place and time. It was a pretty bumpy ride but I did it for love and for my son.

Now, I'm not to keen on being to tethered to much of anything new.

Not saying that I won't ever again but just not right now.

For someone who loves to travel and see new things to be in one place is a great big effort. When they find a place or time to jump into the new or look at the old a new way? Well- if it's legal, moral, and doesn't harm the ones you love or yourself?

Maybe that's a good time to jump a bit.

Dance a little.

eh?

I don't want to grow old with no sailing stories of my own to tell.

So I've lately been looking at folks who say they have a purchase on what I do and say. It's been an interesting experience.

I'm taking a bit of time for me.

Be happy.

Be kind.

Be free.

Hugs,

Author Ann

Be. Here. Now

In this moment.

Not in the future time.

Or in the past.

But now.

Right now.

No. I don't care if it sounds willful.

i only care that it sounds.

That it makes the sounds that you will understand the urgency of the message.

Be

here

now.

I can hardly see the words on the page and even the subconscious in my fingertips  is trying to shout the words.

I'm tired of  "maybe's" and "some days".

NOW.

.

."...I have to do this now.

Now before I get to old.

Now.

Before years of self doubt coil around my heart like some evil primordial snake. It squeezes the last bit of self and breath I have left. I'm here in the dark. In my bed with the sound of someone next to me. Snoring. Why I'm here I don't know. He's nice enough. He doesn't beat me and if I'm sick or hungry or both he'll at least notice if I'm alive. But that life he recognizes, the one where I'm breathing in the biological sense? At this moment  it doesn't feel very much like being alive does. If I don't get up out of this bed and do something quick my body might be alive but my spirit ,maybe lost...."

"You know, it's funny hearing the head of the Chinese banking system demand America alter it's financial policies

just cause he said so.

After all, it was America who modernised (and I guess got him his job) in the first place.

Here in the South we call that one of three things.

The kindest is "uppidty".

The next kindest is "arrogant".

But?

What we're thinking is the third thing,

 "That's  just plain stupid."

Only we're not so "uppidiy" and "arrogant" to say so.

At least not to your face."

Before you read the next post, please take care to read this:

For the record,

I DO NOT hate people from China. There are really nice people who are from and still live in China. They haven't had it easy. I know that.

However -

I am not too keen on their govermental policies, That's not the same as disliking people from China.

To tell the truth I'm glad that the citizens of China are finally getting a living wage after years and years of not.

Alot of that economic recovery came from American help. Seems a bit unfriendly to be demanding this and that after all that help.

Just sayin
.

(Song What's Going On by Marvin Gaye)

"This is my Zen garden. All who are weary? Come for peace here." c anne ford

hmmm

I told myself, "Self, stay out of politics. It's a jungle out there. But..."

A history lesson.

Go back and read the financial news. Go back to the 70's and Richard Nixon when the first George Bush was head of (I think) the CIA. Start there and read through the following decades, yes decades, about the push to modernize China. Pay attention to the news where the US redid China's stock exchange, insurance commissions, banking commisions, and then look up civil rights violations by China before the Olympics and just in general. Pay attention to what you're reading and then ask your self about recent comments from China concerning US debt.

Then?

Go get a map.
A world map.

Look at where America is and where China is.
Good.

Then?

Look south to South and Central America.

And look at North and South America with people who could use a job. Look at Europe too. Ireland, Portugal, Greece... Look at the world and put things in to perspective. This isn't the first time the world has seen trouble. It's also not the first time that countries have worked together to handle an economic crisis.

Make no mistake here. I'm a thinking that there is some muscle flexing going on but I know that we were a nation for doing things and making things for ourselves.

Pick a paper and look at history. Look at the folks who've been watching their manufacturing jobs leave the country. We've lost textiles and steel. Now think of this, we are still a country rich in natural reasources and unlike a certain other country we've learned how to make things without poluting our environment.

There are times that call for clear thinking and taking up for yourself. It's not just our country. Hello Canada. Hello countries in Central and South America.

We can do it for ourselves.

This song says "hello" to the people of America who've manufacture things and did it well long before goods ever had the words, "Made in China".

(Incase the embed is disabled song 40 Hour Week by Alabama official vid)

Now I'm not going to suggest you throw out those things with "Made in China" on it but maybe it's time that we had a conversation with the WalMart folks and asked them to bring back the "Made in America" campaign.

And maybe the unions can help.

My grandfather raised children during the Great Depression in America. We don't want that but I think that we can get past it. From Craigs List to Ebay and yes to WalMart. The lessons of the Great Depression was about those places who survived by pulling together. They were inventive. The bartered (think Craig's List. Are you getting me? They fed people that didn't have. I hear it's a global economy now but it was then too. Time to band together.

Then?

Go look at the map and at the news and think to yourself, "Who's the country who's been fighting (and going into debt) in Afganistan and Iraq. Anyone see China?"

My heart felt prayers for the family members of the troops who died in Iraq. Hugs.

I'm sorry that my blog can seem frivolous. I've been staying away from politics because lets face it, the troubles in this world, the sorrow, can be overwhelming. Sometime you need a place of quiet.

I'm not being callous. My state like many others have had real sadness due to loss in the wars of Iraq and Afghanistan.

(His Eyes Are On The Sparrow cover my Marvin Gay - Incase the embed is disabled)

I hope that this comment on the current political enviroment won't get me banned but I come from the Deep South. While there are good times here? There've been bad too.

It's hear that I've learned that while there are times to be quiet? There's time you should say something too.

I am proud to be American.

"...

I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own

..."

from the song Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol

.
.

"...I turn on the car radio and there's this ad for a restaurant. The owners were celebrating their anniversary, 9 years today, and offering everyone who came to eat free cake. They wanted to share their wedded bliss and I guess get everyone in listening distance to think good thoughts about their life choices. Then, in what was really interesting programming, the radio station played the song "Chasing Cars". LOL, yeah, that was my reaction too. WTF. The song is all kinds of emo and, after hearing the very jolly commercial about marital bliss and fried chicken, the song just jarred me awake.

And it got me thinking about the oxymoron - "marital bliss".

You see personally I think that husbands and wives should get things like hazard and longevity pay if the marriage lasts 9 years. They should also get separate vacations if they so choose. For a week, of their choice, they should get to go somewhere with their best friend. Now if that best friend is also their spouse? Great. But for most folks the day end and day out just wears them down. Add kids and the economy and it gets worse. You need a vacation from these people so that you don't yell at them the other 358 days out of the year. And you should take your best friend so that you don't have to eat and drink alone if you don't want to. If you make it past 25 years? You should get a month off. Somewhere far from the person who on average is okay but alot of times just pizzes you off.

Bonus if you've raised kids or lost your job(s) or bought/sold a house or dealt with an illness.

I'm sorry but that anniversary night dinner or the anniversary weekend is like a drop of water to a person starving for drink (or a conversation). It just gets your hopes up and then makes you cry for the lacking of it..

"Marital Bliss"

There's just no way that everyday is bliss in marriage unless you just ignore, give in, or take really good drugs. Or you're lucky.  Bliss is that feeling of euphoria that you get as a result of being exposed to something that is purely pleasant. Marriage might be two people sticking it out but it's not bliss.  Definitely an oxymoron..."

To borrow from Benjamin Franklin, if that sun is rising or setting will depend on the determination and understanding of the people involved...

I was listening to that song, Chasing Cars yesterday and it got me to thinking about how it's possible for two people to live together for a long time and not eventually hate each other. The song sounds like a long time where the two folks don't want to end it but they've had it. Like the last mile of some marathon.

I believe in love with eyes open -  and sometimes shut.

"...If I could just hold you for this one second. Look to my right or left while I sit here and ponder what to do next and there you'd be. If I could just - if I could just .  I would have that feeling that I had from the moment I saw you and it would be okay. There's so much to tell you. It's that feeling when your feet hit the dock after a long while traveling.  You're full of stories of the trip but more you're near bursting with the desire to sit there with the someone of your heart and tell them what's happened.. But you aren't here and I can't tell you or ask you what you think.

"Is that love?" I ask.

Then for a bit I can "see" you and "hear" you in my mind's eye. You're there and you tell me what you think. We were together so long that I could always tell what you thought. It was never boring to me this predictability. It was a comfort in a world that had long sense gone crazy with the heat.  No matter what happened, I knew that you'd be there and I say to you, "Well here's the day." and you'd sit there listening. Then you'd ask me what I thought I should do or not do and I'd tell you.  Then you'd tell me.  Then we'd sit there in the kitchen table and not say much until the whistle went off and you got up to get it.

I was never one for the excitement of back and forth debate. Just the quiet and you confidence that I could handle my own...."

This is a long post.

WB will be here soon. He's going to bush hog some. We had to wait a bit and now it's like hay. Pup's going to help him not because he needs the help but because Pup needs to help. I hope that makes sense.  I've got laundry to wash.  The animals are already fed and watered. I think that we'll eat chicken and then maybe watch a movie.  Maybe get some ice cream.

I'm not so much sad as a bit nostalgic. It's overcast and the prediction is for rain. That's why WB is going to bush hog this afternoon instead of tomorrow.  "Gotta' make hay..."  you know.

Kind thoughts and good happy to you. Hello and hugs to the family.

LOL I'm buying a pair of vintage safety welding goggles. Or at least I'm trying to, those Steampunk kiddos are quick. Anyway that quote is from the listing. I know that it also applies to some of my affairs de cour but heck sometimes ya gotta just go with what ya' got.

Think global.
Act local.

Works for me.... :D

I know that for a CF of LLS fan to say this is their kind of hearsy but I'm not watching this weeks shows realtime. Have been watching recorded version of the night before and getting sleep.

Or trying to get a pair of these safety goggles.
I need these things so that I can go cut some wood.

Out of doors.

With a saw.

And then hammer stuff.

Good morning bored people.

I am sitting here or rather on my back looking at the people passing by. I can do this because of my very large, very dark sunglasses. The drink on the table is fruity to hid the taste of rum and if I can manage it, this will be the drink of choice for the next 4 days. Not 2 worry. I have paid someone 20 bucks to not only bring me more fruity drinks so that I don't dehydrate but to also periodically spray me with sun screen so that I don't spontaneously combust.

The music is latin. My clothes are optional. I am smiling.

How are you?
LoL if you thought that this was somekind of code you'd be wrong. It's an item number that I don't want to forget for the moment. 280717536056

Now on to important stuff.

Crazy. Stupid. Love.

The problem with crazy, stupid, and love in a movie is that the current film industry thinks that - if - it's love? It must ...

Ah who am I kidding.

Poptarts are better for you than this movie.

Marathon watching of the PowerPuff Girls cartoons is a better use of your time.

Heck Jennifer Anniston did it better a bunch of times.

The entire film catalog of the 1980 -90's did it better.

Even the 1970's did it better with the Brady Bunch.

Archaic references? Yes because this formula is so over done that you better have something different to say about it or leave it alone.

This weekend I'm going to see Cowboys vs Aliens. It's about a cowboy of the 1800's who wakes up with amnesia and a very bad feeling. He's been abducted. By aliens. No, not the illegal kind. The kind from outter space.
Kind of like the Wild Wild West movie . The one with Will Smith.

This one.

.
Oh no. It's really, really, really ..... a movie review? WTF?

Crazy. Stupid. Love

Well there's your review of this movie.
.
I'm not paying 10 bucks plus pop and corn to see this movie.

I don't care about Ryan G's junk or his abs.

(Really not that big of a deal.)

I REALLY don't care to see Steve Carrol "shudder" suffer.

(I saw Dan in Real Life. I saw Date Night. It's not stupid enough to be clever (think Dinner for Smucks). Honest to God Steve, please you seem funny. Enough with the suffering.)
It's not good parody and this kind of thing has been done to death or much better for serious. It's like eatting frog's legs, you try it, you think "Awh, this is awful. WHY did I even begin to think this would be a good idea." Yet, you soldier on thinking of all those starving keygrips but it's so bad you go see CowboysVSAliens to get the "bad taste" out of your mouth.

Maybe it's time for the "ennui" generation to get that it isn't the best to parody itself or come up with the next Friends franchise/clone. PLEASE leave the 80's and 90's out of it.

OR make a real live movie about what happens to to you when you get divorce in YOUR OWN time period.

Go make another vampire movie, parody the 70's,or make "JerseyShore. The Movie".

It would seem that I'm not particularly good at being celibate. Which is why it was very good that I missed that Irish golf commentator guy on LLS with Tv's CF.

CF and that guy in the same interview would be tricky. :)

I've finally found someone who is an absolute prick.

.
.

Dear diary,

Craig Ferguson is either pre taped or on vaca repeats.

The "fly in my ointment" has finally gotten a clue and fledged.

Pup is okay.

WB is okay.

And I've got stuff to put on my already done list.

Not sure that I remember how but I need to have fun STAT!

What to do? What to do?

I've given it the best effort. I've been told that everyone has their life to live and I'm not invited. I tried and I tried and then I sat down and really thought about it. If folks are all squared away and don't need me? My time is now my own. Hmmm. That's not happened for over 20 years. I actually have time to myself and a boat. Hmmmm. I can go fishin' or sailing without having to coordinate. I can go sit in the hammock and read in the evening. All I have to do is keep up with the pups.

So I thought some more and well - if no one needs me (too late you already said that you didn't) -well I'm gonna take a vacation too. Stay up. Sleep in. Screw off.

Ya'll? I ain't NEVER had too much fun. :D

Seriously, I've got to go goof off now.

Yay!

Dear friend Newt,

This world is such a beautiful place. You and I both know that. You with the mountains that you climb. Me? The water has always been my home. Even when it's a million miles a way ,it's there in our hearts. It whispers, "Come home."

I don't know what mountain you are climbing at the moment but there is sad in the world.  I don't know about you, but I for one could use a story, a virtual Zen Garden, and a good friend who is a writer. That is what I miss here (besides the big water). I miss sitting and talking. I miss knowing that we are in the same world.

Who will be my writing buddy if you are gone?

The second blog post that I wrote on eBay blogs was about talking around my PawPaw and MawMaw's table. I can still see it, Newt. In alot of ways, the kitchen here is like it. In storage, somewhere, I have my own table. It's round and made of oak. I bought it from someone who's life was changing. Now, I keep it safe while my life changes. Like the pups, I hold on to it. I'm keeping the faith that I'll have it there in my kitchen. A place to swap stories.

The thing is, Newt, I don't have anyone to remind me not to over analyse and just to listen to a story like a child.

There is something missing.

I'm missing my writing friend.

I miss my friend.

LOL I know that when I wrote my stories that I hoped that you  were reading them. When I knew that you were, it made me smile. When I found out that you not only read them but that they made you smile? I was over the moon happy.  If I could know that you still read my stories, I could write them even if I didn't get to chat with you or hear how your life is going. Something to look forward to, it would mark the days. It would give me a calm place to be in my heart.

It would slow time.
I miss you as a friend something fierce.

I don't know how but I'm hoping - no - I'm willing that you'll cross this way again.

Hugs

Iron

The new stories are with the hope that some how Newt and Lexi will find them. We are seated at the virtual table swapping stories. We are safe from the growing thunder.

Once,  the world was new and fresh as the face of a sleeping child,  ...

LOL My foot itches. BRB.

Was very sad to learn about the tragedy in Norway.

When I read the account of the troubles there, my first thought was to wonder what we as people are coming to.  Then I thought that I could put something here to remind me that for all the people who tear the world down, there are others who are creating and building futures.

Hugs to the folks in Norway. Honestly I'm at a loss as to what the folks who did this were thinking.

I do know that it's not what I call Christian.

Not at all.

Again hugs and healing thoughts.

Dear Gentle Readers,

I have to go for abit. No - nothings wrong. I'm fine. So's my family. I've just got a lot that I need to do this week and if I get on the computer, I'll spend my time writing and looking instead of getting my work done. That's the sum of it.

Anyway, while I'm gone, I thought that you might like to read a book that I just finished. The book, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe, was written by Fannie Flag in the late 1980's and is about an area that I know well.  Ms. Flagg is from the south just like I am and she's captured the "music" of the language and the environment of the old south in a truthful but not hurtful way. The story is about two different times in Birmingham, Alabama and about the town folks of Whistle Stop.  It's a good story and at the end there are recipes for fried chicken and biscuits and beans and well not only will you hear the words, you can try the food too. Since there are folks reading my blog from different  parts of the world, I thought that you might like get a taste of where I'm from. Next to the book, The Secret Lives of Bees by Sue Monk Kid , there's not a more gentle book about hard times.

Yes, I know,  there's a movie adaptation of both, but read the books. Okay?

I kind of wish that I was able to swap the stories of where we each are from. Thing is I've just about given up finding out who reads what I write. But- I haven't given up on writing the words that you'll read. It's just that I'll be gone for the next week.  So get hold of the book (or books) and give it (or them) a read while I'm gone.. I imagine that you might find it online or in your local library. When I get back I'll tell you about what I've been up to.

Enjoy the puzzles,

Hugs,

AuthorAnn

Note. It's been raining and Fried Green Tomatoes... is the book I've been reading in the rain. We're in the hot season of the year. The sky gets so hot in the afternoon "she" can't stand it so she cries in her sorrow and we get rain. Can't do much outside.  I crawled into bed and read and read. I love reading while it's raining. The air gets still and then cool. A breeze comes up. The sound of single rain drops turn into a kind of white noise. If I could, I'd read all afternoon in the rain on a porch like the one my PawPaw built for my MawMaw. There I'd sit out on the glider where you could smell the Russian Olives and ozone. After a while, the sound of the rain seems to disappear into a kind of white noise and there's just the story and my imagination. This afternoon was a treat. I wish that you could have been there. :)
This last part's for Newt if she ever reads this.

And for something I'm told is old school southern -

Fa so la singing from north Alabama.  My dad tells the story of being a kid, years and years and years ago,  standing in the town square and hearing folks Fa So La singing. Also known as "shape note" singing, the notes are in geometric shapes rather than the quarter, half, and whole note notation that we use today. Each note in the Fa So La scale is given a name from the generic scale of  "do", "rae", "me", "fa", "so", "la",  "te", and "do" that are sung instead of words. (Although I noticed that in this song there was first the Fa So La singing and then the melody with lyrics. Go figure. )

I'm told it's of this place where I live.

Gotta go. Hugs 2u, Ann,

Please note.

I'm not really an RSA fanatic.  I like the LLS and some of the Youtube clips suit what I'm writing about. I watch and I'm entertained and I can riff on what I see but the world is big.

and that is what I really like about the LLS.

It's not what they have.

It's what they do - or rather have done - with what they have.

There comes a time in life when you realize that not everything you face is in your control.

BUT

How you deal with it is.

I'm not overly fond of the sexual inuendos or the vaudvillian "Wink, wink, nod, nod."  but I am always delighted with the cerebral nature of the show.  It's the times, when the thrust and the parry are blunted with humanity, that I smile and laugh out loud.

Any lout can return an uncomfortabble situation with  mindless anger but only a quick mind can return it with sharp humor.

That's worth a begrudging admiration.

Do'tcha think?

Just sayin'.

It was the first time that I wondered who this guy is in real life.

And well the thought did occur - I mean you'd have to be stone cold frigid not to wonder - because I've seen guys dance that don't have - well- something - who couldn't get up on the horse much less ride.... I did wonder.

Forgot how much I really liked this song.

Hmm Howdy. Hope things are good with you Gentle Reader. It's still hot. It's still trying to rain every evening (not complaining as we really do need the rain and afternoon or evening rain works except for the problems with not burning off so maybe an early morning rain might work -- LOL I love a good run on sentence. Anyway.
Things are good.

Pup got to go see the space shuttle launch. Had a great time and saw a bit of history. He's happy.

I'm reading a new book that I got from the Dollar General. If you don't know what a Dollar General is, it's like the old 5 and dime stores only now everything costs a dollar or more. It's got 365 things, that if you do them, should make you happy. #3 says that aromatherapy is our friend. I agree. I honestly think that's why God created The Bath and Body Works. To lift our spirits with lovely sent. In case you are wondering, I smell like a conbination of White Citris (lotion) and Japanese Cherry Blossom. In other words, I smell lovely and spirit is suitably lifted.

It's on sale (75% off), sold online, and I love a present.

Just saying,
