.
Hi ya.
If you read 12dots you know that I've been trying a bit of an experiment. For the last month, I've kind of thrown out the list of those things "to do" in favor of an "already done" list of accomplishments. In 31 days I've finally started doing the things that are important to me instead of the list of "expecteds". I can do that now. It's been a bit like closing my eyes and jumping into life. In the past 31 days the list of things done has grown much faster than I'd thought. The decisions that I make now are quicker and much clearer than before this experiment. LOL, I value my time more than I did before. While it's a bit of an adjustment for some family members, Pups prospered from it and has been adding to his own "already accomplished" list.
I thought that I might write online about it as I did over the last month, however, Pup's asked me for my help and - well - there are only so many hours in a day. I'm not sure that I can record the process and do it at the same time. At first, I thought that I might just for go writing on the blog all together but then I thought of Twitter. By it's very nature, Twitter is designed to be short comments on the month, the week, the day, or the minute's event. I can write longer posts on the blog but I can keep a kind of outline of the process much easier on Twitter. This will allow me to actually live my life and help Pup with what he'd like to do and still write about it.
That's what I intend to do.
Just like writing a daily haiku would allow me to write daily but still be involved in a very active life process, the Twitter entries will allow me to write about my life and still actually live it. I might even use the Tweets to communicate with WB and Pup. (Note: I doubt if WB would be interested but Pup might. Pup's interest would be half the process and double our fun.)
Please note that I'll still be writing here in the comments. THIS ISN"T AN INACTIVE BLOG>>>
Well that's pretty much what's up. Still will do the Zen moments in this blog but I meant what I wrote in the previous blog post about a change in course but still the same way point.
Hugs,
AuthorAnn
PS I recommend the Give Your Stress A Rest/Zen Experiment. The moments of quiet introspection aren't selfish. On the contrary, life is so "loud" that the responsibilities can drowned out your own voice. Make sure that what you chose is moral and legal and considers your family but don't let that "to do" list that they give you to do overwhelm who you are.
Hugs.
Notes from the field are on Twitter unless noted. I'm not leaving just taking a very welcome chance to spend time with Pup, the farm, and the boat. That is a very good thing.
And Newt? I wonder at what you must think at my use of the words Zen?
Good and kind thoughts. Hugs.
.
Pup?
Such a thing is love of the person who is so many ways has defined, confined and yet liberated me.
It's not easy but watching you has made me believe in miracles.
I love you kiddo.
Mom

Happy summer ladies!! It's official. So how does this slacker spend the first day of summer?
In a doctor's waiting room.
I do get to go out to eat (hospital cafeteria) and I do get to go to my favorite city (out the window on the drive up and in the hospital waiting areas) and hey, I do get to see visit with my dad (during the drive up to and back from the hospital) and I will get to spend time with the new chickens, Pup, the pups, and WB (tonight after I get back from the doctor's office).
And most important? My dad has heath care.
I'm not going to complain about how I spend today.
I truly could be much worse.

GoatHerderBoy's Rules of Dating
Rule six
"Because all the good looking girls will still go out with the guys from Mohawk because they've got all the money."
It just doesn't matter.
Well, sometimes it does, but most times it's good to have a healthy perspective on the process. Now I don't think that, in the set of all really good looking women in this world, every good looking woman would only go out with you because you've got the money.
But some would.
Should you ask them out?
Sure.
Would they go out with you?
Sure.
Should you make sure to tell them that you're only interested in having fun and nothing serious?
Yeah, I would. It's not fair to let anyone think that you're serious about them when you aren't really.
You want to have fun and NOT hurt their feelings.

I was listening ot the news. There was the news about Saudi women looking to be able to drive.
.
Today I found the following op-ed piece in the NYTimes.
There seems to be an notion that woman have to be regulated for some reason. Apparently a woman isn't able to control herself or her urges. And now men are following the same moral path according to the op ed.
It just seems strange to hear. After all the advances, yes advances, that woman have made, there are still women who think that keeping the infidelity of man a secret is the right thing to do and that if they'd just tried hard enough -- well the that poor man just couldn't help himself.
I actually heard on a radio show about Wiener's (LOL oh gawd I am so sorry but ...) withdrawal, that women were becoming just as greedy as men. It was the woman being interviewed idea that when it comes to infidelity? Woman should keep it quiet. That's certainly what Eleanor would have done.
I mean look at Eve and Adam.
Wasn't it Eve who got Adam to take the first bite?
Sheesh
The Op Ed piece
“WHAT was he thinking?” That’s the question columnists, talking heads and my (mostly female) friends have been asking about Representative Anthony D. Weiner of New York, who announced Thursday that he would resign, just over a week after admitting he’d sent sexually explicit photographs and messages to women over the Internet.
Sadly, that question has been asked of a dizzying number of unfaithful men in recent memory: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Mark Sanford, John Ensign, John Edwards, Eliot Spitzer, Newt Gingrich, Bill Clinton ... the list goes on and on.
The conventional answer is that when it comes to sex, a certain kind of man, no matter how intelligent, doesn’t think at all; he just acts. Somehow a need for sexual conquest, female adulation and illicit and risky liaisons seems to go along with drive, ambition and confidence in the “alpha male.” And even if we denounce him and hound him from office, we tend to accept the idea that power accentuates the lusty nature of men.
This conception of masculinity is relatively new, however. For most of Western history, the primary and most valued characteristic of manhood was self-mastery. Late antique and Roman writers, like Plutarch, lauded men for their ability to resist sexual temptation and control bodily desire through force of will and intellect. Too much sex was thought to weaken men: a late-15th-century poem mocks an otherwise respectable but overly sexually active burgess who has “wasted and spent” his “substance” until there is “naught left but empty skin and bone.”
Rampant sexuality was something men were supposed to grow out of: in medieval political theory, young male bodies were used as symbols of badly run kingdoms. A man who indulged in excessive eating, drinking, sleeping or sex — who failed to “rule himself” — was considered unfit to rule his household, much less a polity.
Far from seeming “manly,” aggressive sexuality was associated with women. In contrast to the Victorian view of women that is still influential today, ancient and medieval writers described women as consumed by lust and sexual desire. In 1433, officials in Florence charged with regulating women’s dress and behavior sought “to restrain the barbarous and irrepressible bestiality of women who, not mindful of the weakness of their nature, forgetting that they are subject to their husbands, and transforming their perverse sense into a reprobate and diabolical nature, force their husbands with their honeyed poison to submit to them.”
Because of this association of sexuality with femaleness, men who failed to control their sexual urges or were susceptible to feminine attractions found their masculinity challenged. Marc Antony was roundly mocked as having been “softened and effeminized” by his desire for Cleopatra. When the king and war hero Pedro II of Aragon spent the night before a battle not in prayer or council but in bed with a woman, he was labeled effeminate.
Few of us would wish to revive these notions or endorse medieval misogyny. But in the face of recent revelations about the reckless and self-indulgent sexual conduct of so many of our elected officials, it may be worth recalling that sexual restraint rather than sexual prowess was once the measure of a man.
How and why have we moved so far from this ideal? Why do so many powerful men take sexual risks that destroy their families and careers? Contemporary worship of youth is one explanation: rather than shunning the idea of childishness, many adults, male and female, now spend much of their time clinging to an illusory and endless adolescence. The ability to be a “player” well into middle age thus becomes a point of pride, rather than shame, for the modern man. Perhaps the erosion of men’s exclusive status as breadwinners and heads of households also figures in: when one no longer “rules the household,” there may be less motivation for or satisfaction in “ruling oneself.”
But in the face of recent headlines I find myself less inclined to analyze or excuse current mores than to echo medieval ones. The critics of Pedro II of Aragon would have turned Arnold Schwarzenegger’s own words against him and his kind: Who are the girlie men now?

This is for someone who I have never met but whose photo kinda changed my life for the better. During my exploring through Twitter, I came upon a tweet from this same person that said she was leaving for a new job. Wanted to share this with her and thank her for posting that photo.
The following is a comment about the photo much later.

"Seize the moment.
.
I'm thinking about the photo of the woman under the water. It's the one where she's holding a small sea creature. She's holding it up to the camera as if to say, "See, look at this. This iife and it's amazing. Go see for yourself." At the time -even thought we didn't know each other, I felt that was an important thing to remember. I can still close my eyes and see that photo.
"Go out into the world and see. It's amazing."
So today we have our own photo.
And that is a true moment.
Go out into the world and look.
It's awesome."
This blog? It's for me to put snippets and longer of words and ideas. While there are elements of my life in this blog, it's more of a writing journal than a personal one. But some sections are personal. It's quite a time of change in my life and in the lives of my family. Some changes like the one noted above have been very good.
Thank you, Andrea.
I don't know you and you don't know me but your photo? It kind of changed my life.
So to you?

Hugs from a complete stranger.

Dear Congressman Wiener,
Remember how Bill Clinton said that he did not have sex with that woman and then they found that blue dress Monica's friend said it would be a good idea to keep? Then remember how after that happened Rush Limbaugh and all of the conservative political types started yelling, "Impeach Clinton" and "Clinton should quit." I sure do. Then remember how there was an impeachment trial, and the famous "Hillary, Bill, and Chelsea walk to the helicopter and doesn't Hillary look pizzed" photo. It was on all the news channels and news papers.
Anyway.
Not only do I remember that folks were calling for Bill Clinton to resign through all of this, I also remember that he did not.
Now it is true that Bill Clinton is cuter than you are and well- his last name isn't an unfortunate description of your press photos (get a new one please.) I'm still thinking that there is a real lesson in history for you.
So pay attention.
I know that a name change at this point won't help you a whole lot but a positive, can attitude might do wonders.
Get a new photo.
Put on the game face.
And think to yourself, "What would Bill do?"
Love and hugs,
A Voter.
This is a politics free zone people. If you think I'm going to make a political reference concerning the current situation with Wiener? You'd be soooooooooo. wrong. :P
Then again, "Look. Look coming down the lannne. Here comes Scott. Here comes, Dot. Here comes Chicken Jaaaaaneee."
Stop laughing.
That's enough.
Now to important stuff. Like my blog.
Note for political wonks, wanna be's, and " red neck rubber neckers who're just gawking"...
Look up how Carol Mosely Braun lost reelection and then got trounced by John Kerry during the Democratic primaries. This is quite a woman. She actually got Howell Heflin to vote for her against the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Then there's the fact that when she supported Bill, who sucessfully supported her first election in Ill.. And (lol this just gets me) who was also supported by the then unknown Barack Obama who went on to out man Hillary in the Dem presidential primary.
Hang on. I'm dizzy from all this interconnected- ness.
Well all together now
LOL
Enough politics.
I've gotta go outside and world. Read next post for doorway to 12dots.

GoatHerderBoy's Rules of Dating Rule 4
No.
No, no, no. I know that this song says to love the one you're with but no.

This is important.
So, you are actually interested in dating. Yay. You, my darlin', are the best person I ever met. Honestly. Anyone who was lucky enough to catch your attention would be blessed. That's why I'm doing this. There's lots to do in this world but I can't think of anything more important.

"So that I won't forget.
LOL My life. It's been complicated and now I wonder at how easily falls into place. Even the hard parts are good. There's this feeling. Have you every had to move something heavy? You know where you have to put all your might into it. When I move a board or redo something because the first time didn't work, or when you just are determined to do something even though there's a chorus inside your head chanting, "No, no, nooo you can't. No, no no, give up." You sit there in the dark or out in the bright light of day and you wonder if this is it.
I remember seeing my father sitting there in the wheel chair hardly able to look up and asking the therapist, "Is this it?" He could barely stand up and his speech was slurred. This is a man who I thought could move mountains with a look.
"Get up."
The words I heard in my head. It's what I was tellling myself when I'd rather have just sat there forever. "How could he die?" When you think that you can't ever see the light of day again. Something. Something has to pull you through that moment. If you don't you founder.
You die.
"Get up."
I did.
He did.
It was a terrible lesson to learn because the scars of it cut so deep."
If Life Is A Highway? I Hope It's a Fun Trip."

I'm wondering if the everyday love that gets folks through the mundane as well as the extra ordinary days of our lives isn't the great love people talk about. For over 60 years my grandma and grandpa lived together. She cooked his meals and washed his clothes and he went out into the world and brought back a paycheck. That's not the part I find interesting. The part that makes me pay attention is something that I saw in a photo. It was taken when they were in their 60's or 70's. They'd been married along time by then. There they sat in my parent's living room. MawMaw sitting in PawPaw's lap and both of them smiling like newly weds.
Everyday.
Think about it.

Directions for saw horses
How to for saw horses and work bench.
Scroll down to next post for blog.
Thanks.
This last video is an overview of wood working. There are other instructional vids too.
This next video from the Wood Whisperer is pretty good.I'm wondering if it would work for boat shelves?
This would be useful since I like the cordless tools. Could attach the station using the french storage (see video above) Note the storage system for tools and use of painter tape for reference.
And for that board that I love but that's full of knots?
LOL I think it might be from West Marine. Not sure. Will check.
AH ha. Finally. How to pick out wood. This information is what I was trying to find out when I visited the homestore.
This next video is the entry for a series of vids on designing and constructing custom furniture. It's a great resource to the mindset of the furniture designer/craftsman. Unfortunately the embed isn't functioning so I have the link
http://www.youtube.com/user/TheWoodWhisperer#p/c/A40C8267444836F7/5/j7iRp3PGONU
I've noticed that each of these guys have things that they do that will be good to incorporate into wood working.
.
Here's a project that I'd love to try out. two videos
Outboard motor work stand with running motor. Hmm If I can make it long enough to hold the boat motor and trolling motor. Hmm. And I do like that shelf for the gas can, batteries and water cooling thingy.
Thinking thinking.
There's these guys...
(don't know what they're saying but they are highly entertaining and the music is catchy)
And look! "Plumber's crack!"
LOL, I didn't have these vids when I made my work table and saw horses. I just looked at it as a sculpture and viola! A table and saw horses. I'm thinking that would be the best way to look at my next project.
Have a busy day outside.

Dear Gentle Readers,
As much as I love to blog here and Tweet on the Tweety, I must take a rest. There's plenty to read here. I'll bet you've never read the very first blog posts. There's the Zen of a can of beans. The Zen of man and animals. There's the Zen of neighbors and neighborhoods.
This is an excellent time for us all to look back and to reflect on the joys of life.
As for me? I will most likely be reflecting on the joys of working out of doors in the heat and the joys of cleaning the clothes closet. Followed closely by the joys of hull maintenance on the sailboat. I hear this last joy is most enlightening. If I experience these joys now? I will be able to experience the joy of sailing.
You had to know this was coming.
Me time aka read, nap, feed the animals, hug the kid, eat lots of healthy things, get to sleep early, get up early, run skip, work on the boat, sail on the boat, be happy, put all kinds of good stuff on the "Already Don List", continue the Give Your Stress a Rest experiment, write about it in comments - no hang on - I'm supposed to give that a rest, Jump for joy and be happy
And? Write Interactive Blog Stories..
I think that I'll even go to Paris.
Paris, Texas.
.
Now go here. Yip. Like this guy. More on Youtube. Thought...
Enjoy!!!!!
Ciao.

I was thinking about someone from my past.
Then I saw this video and thought, "Dam. The reality of my life is so different." I'm not bad looking. Never was but I was never going to be a standout in the looks department. Me? I got brains. That's good but sometimes I look at the world and think, "Only one date in highschool. Only 5 dates in college. The world went out and partied while I stayed in and studies."
Now I look at folks and think, it's not that I'm sexually disinterested. It's just that I'm thinking that spending time learning something new on my own might not be just a phase. It might be a life style. The longer this goes on the easier it is for me to leave that aspect of my life behind.
What if I became a hermit up on GoatHerderBoy Hill.
LOL All together now.
Ah no can't do that.

Father's Day is coming up. End of June. I told my dad about the work table that I built for us here. Haven't had it long but it's been a real "work horse". Already used it to make saw horses, repair kitchen chairs, and well lots of stuff. It's outside under the trees. He told me that he'd like a work table. So that's what I'm going to give him for Father's Day. A work table just like mine and built by me.

Hummmm. Nothing but pre taped, rehashed, and reruns for the summer.
Not good in tvland.
After much thought, about 5 minutes tops, I've come up with a plan.
Nothing rehashed.
Nothing pretaped.
And definitely no reruns.
.
Out in the world?
Not to cause a scandal but I've been to Paris. During the summer it's tourist central. I'd rather see New York. Or better yet somewhere that has a pool. A pool and a beach. And a breeze...
But not Paris, France. And not for work. Definitely not for work.
And definitely not this summer.
The Zen thing has been a good experience. I've been trying to rid myself of other people's expectations and replace them with my own. Toss out the "Before I can be happy, I have to ..." Nothing seemed to work until this zen thing. This worked. I'm thinking that we've all got something important to say just by surviving each day. It's all about having confidence and being real.
Oh and to answer the question?
All this and a bag of chips or just a bag of cheesy puffs?
Dunno really. Don't have time to think on it.
Summer in Paris? Nope.
Summer in my life? Yeah, definitely.
:D

Dear Pup,
I'm glad that somehow a miracle happened. You grew up to be nice AND you don't hate me.
You? I love. Don't sweat that big looming question, "What am I going to do with the rest of your life?" I'm finding that it's better to ask, "What makes me get out of the bed happy even on the "rainy" days?
The answers are much more honest.
You're a good person, Pup. I know that. You'll make good decisions whatever you do. After years of "to do" lists, I never did them. I was afraid of that list. Afraid to fail. Then one day I woke up and tried something different. No more "to do" lists. Instead I replaced it with another list, an "Already Done" list. It was amazing the difference it's made.
Worry about what you'll do in the future, especially in this day and time, it can just cause a person to sit paralyzed with fear. That's no good Pup.
So go do your day.
Remember to be kind.
Remember that the question "Is it legal and moral to do?" is a good compass, and then go see what you can see.
Got an "already done" list to write.
Love and hugs,
Mom
.
.
And that, my darling boy, is The Point.

"....It's like rain on your wedding day."
Dear David,
After much time and much reflection on the past 10 years I finally know in my heart that it just wasn't my fault..
It really wasn't.
Dear SB,
You may seem like a nice guy but frankly you're the biggest baby I've ever seen in my life.
I don't even miss you.
The ONLY reason why I'm writing you is to say that I hope that you NEVER get married to anyone.
No one could be so horrid as to deserve a life time with you.
For the record? You had nothing to do with my learning to sail. Nothing.
For the record? You had nothing to do with my learning to sail. Nothing.
Dear folks,
You are so right. Being a mom has taught me alot.
It's taught me to hug people when they're hurt.
It's taught me to say the words, "I love you."
Alot.
It's taught me that your friends are your friends and the rest are not.
It's taught me that there are some things in life that are just too important to walk away from.
Pup taught me that.
You guys on the other hand taught me that being so "In love and involved with each other" to the point were it makes your kids feel like the odd person out.
Is stupid.
And yet I still worry that you guys are okay.
Being a mom taught me that.
Dear WB,
.WB, WB, WB.
I woke up this morning and you were already gone and perhaps even "gone".
I've been around you a long time WB. I've seen you in some pretty bad straights but even I didn't think you had this in you. It's taken along time for me to get what I should have seen that day when you showed up again. Guess it's just the optimist in me to believe that if I build my house on sand, God and the hurricanes will leave it be. It's taken me along time to see why I'm so facinated with the concept of "Irony".
Even though I could see it coming, I never really understoon why it took you so long. I guess that's the biggest of the Irony. You see, I thought that you loved me. I thought that it was my fault. "Just too much of a fuck up for anyone to love. WB is a saint. for living with you." Mom would say. Who knew that she was so bitter about her own life. Who knew that for years I would actaully believe her.
Sitting here now I realize that you didn't really care. Turns out you are more like my mom than you thought. You both wear your "hairshirts" as a badge of honor. Like old angry people who've let the "just not my faults" of life make you bitter. You both sit and wait. Plot your revenge. Then when that moment of vulnerable comes your way, you try to squash it. I can see staying for love but why stay for revenge when you could have just removed them and then found love.
And what the hell are you getting revenge for anyway?
Sorry but it just isn't my fault.
And what the hell are you getting revenge for anyway?
Sorry but it just isn't my fault.
Yep, "life has a funny way of helping you out..."
People the problem is that for all the times I've heard that I'm selfish and self absorbed? It was from people who were more self absorbed than I could ever be. Sitting there waiting to make me hurt instead of walking out into the world and enjoying life isn't a good life plan. There's a very old saying that I think is actually in The Bible. Something about if you go into a town and they don't want you? Don't hang around trying to make them pay for it. Instead? Knock the dirt of that town off your feet and then leave. Otherwise you'll miss some people who do. WB didn't teach me this. My folks didn't either. Nor did SB or David. LOL Even my Dad of all people didn't teach me that.
But he did teach me one important thing. It took him years and near death to learn it himself.
It's very important to tell someone that you love them.
And everyone can use a hug.
.
I don't have to teach Pup. He taught me.

Laugh Out Loud,
Hugs,
Day 12's Zen moment?
Have the courage to be yourself.
Have the courage to not give up.
It's a big world. Someone out there is waiting for you.
Enjoy the process.

I'm not sure if this is my Zen moment or not.
There's a old Sunday School song about the folly of building your house upon the sand. I never entirely believed that song because I lived on the coast where folks not only built their houses upon the sand, they rebuilt their houses upon the sand after yet another hurricane washed them away. I'm sitting here thinking that building your house on the sand should much more faith in God. You had faith that THIS time surely God would honor your faith by just leaving you be to enjoy the view.
And then, even though you know deep in your heart that it's coming, he sends something like Hurricane Katina.
I am deep in my heart a optimistic person. Even now when I have a very good idea that next "hurricane" is due. I'm not sure after all that's happened why I'm not a raging pessimist or at the very least a cynic. Maybe I'm alot like that herpetologist fella , Bryan. We know that some snakes bite. Yet we still study them and care about their lives.
And yes, post and this day is more than just about the study of snakes.

OMG I forgot.
On Monday (Memorial Day) we saw the biggest snake cross the road.
A rattlesnake.
PETA will not be happy about what happened to that snake.
WB ran over it.
Four times.
I think he even backed over it once.
The first time he skidded over it because, "Mr. ____ told me to skid over them otherwise you might just stun them."
I'm not kidding.
Then?
He came back home and bushhogged around the dog pens and the storage building.
Why?
Because last fall my neighbor killed a huge rattlesnake that was apparently living under the very small pile of logs next to the dog pen. I am talking VERY SMALL and RIGHT NEXT to my fur babies. As in within 2 feet of my fur babies. It was HUGE.
Anyway our neighbor said that maybe we should move the logs and keep the grass very short around the dog pen.
And then we saw this one on Monday.
So WB ran over it.
Again and again and again and again.
And he was sober.
According to him if someone from the sherriff's department had seen him do this? They'd probably said good job and then shot it.
And then run over it with the sherriff's car.
Again and again and again.
And then he and the sherriff's deputy would holler in unison, "The only good rattlesnake is a dead one so if you're a rattlesnake living in those woods you better get out or we'll run you over, shoot you, and then run over you again. And then we'll skin your ass and use you as a hatband."
I kid you not.
It was kind of funny but I'm pretty sure it was very politically incorrect and that PETA would hate it.
No we weren't drinking.
Yes this really did happen.
And yes we did say things like:
"Did I get it?" WB
"Dunno' back up and let's see." Me
"Aw heck no. It might be sitll alive. Those things can jump up and--" WB
"No they can't." Me
:"Yes they can." WB
"WB turn around in Mr.____ 's driveway. Stop it WB. You CAN NOT turn around in the road like that. Someone will think that we're drunk and call the sherriff's department." ME
"No they won't. Mr._____ would shoot it." WB
"Besides which Mr. ______ (another neighbor) told me to skid over it otherwise you might just stun it." WB
LOL WB may wear a suit and tie to work but way deep down in his heart he is such a RedNeck.
I kid you not.
Read the next post too. Other than this actually real story, I'm not posting just writing in the comments. Next post will explain.

For the record?
I have nothing against people who:
work at a pizza joint,
drive old Hyundais,
still live with their parents,
are 5'3",
overweight,
like scifi,
are asthmatic,
have never been to second base (literally or figuratively).
who like football (American or otherwise),
OR SNAKES, I DON"T HATE SNAKES.
(That's for Bryan in Arizona who I didn't even know existed on the planet before about 5 minutes ago and who thinks I'm a horrible, sanke hating, person. True I wasn't happy about the snake taking a nap on the threshold of my front door. Nor was a thrilled about the rattlesnake who took up residence two feet from my dog pen.
That said. Thanks for reading my blog Bryan. No hard feelings. Peace and love. Hugs.
I am a writer. I write. Well keep reading and you'll get the idea.)
well you get the idea.
I don't, however, care for folks who deliberately try to deceive kind hearted people on the Internet for fun, profit, sympathy, or because they are having a crap day.
I don't want to be, nor am I, one of those people.
Which is the point of this blog post.
AND
Despite what WB (there really is a WB by the way) says,
I am a writer.
That's what I do.

Sigh.
Here we go.
Here we go.
Was reading the Twitter when I came upon a group of folks talking about writing poetry in order to deal with ones feelings. I think that's a great idea.
However
That's not the purpose of 12dotsandablot.
As a matter of fact?
As a matter of fact?
12dotsandblot is real as this video.
Is there fact in it? Yes.
Is there something to learn from it? Yes.
Do folks relate their actual life to the fictional story?
Yes.
Except for me walking down any run way in designer under pants, I really do relate to the "reality" of this video. Real people really do get up and keep going. Even if they fall flat on the "runways of life" during fashion week.
And like the song, "...got to be real.."
Are the people in this video real?
Yes but they are actors playing roles.
It may have been based on the author's life but it was not an autobiography.
Carrie is a character based on the author's real life.
This blog?
It has elements of reality but it's also got fiction.
No not lying.
I am a writer that is what I do.
It's not a way to get in touch with my feelings but is is a way to experiment with "writer's voice" and character development.
I'm not sure why that's a difficult concept for some folks but it is. For instance, WB thinks that it's a waste of time. I think that he thinks that writers just sit down and write the great American novel. I try to tell him that it's alot of work and believe it or not practice. You have to sit down and write things because if you don't how will you finally write the great American novel that people will not only read but actually pay to do so.
Now that is real. LOL.
And yes, a real live editor did agree that a short story that I wrote was good enough to not only print in their magazine but he also wanted to PAY ME FOR IT.
A writer.
So.
Here it is again
Get used to it because this is real.
The 12dotsandablot disclaimer.
Get used to it because this is real.
The 12dotsandablot disclaimer.
This is 12dotsandablot.
It's a writer's journal.
I'm a writer.
A writer and a poet.
I'm a writer.
A writer and a poet.
Fact and fiction co exist here.
If you don't know which is which?
Don't ASSume.
Ask.
As for my real life?
As for my real life?
LOL I'm just not that interesting in real life.
A long time ago, I had someone come on my blog and comment that they were worried about me because of what I was writing.
At that moment I realized three things.
One.
There were nice folks who cared about me. Thanks!
Two.
People whose names I didn't know were reading my blog. (Ha Take that WB who said I wasn't a writer. That's exactly what writers do. Write things interesting enough for complete strangers to read.)

Three.
I needed to put a disclaimer on the blog to let folks know that the blog is about creating characters. Believable characters. If I do my job correctly the reader will think it is real but know it's not.
While it is true that I was disinherited?
It is true that I own a boat?
While the part about my dad being sick was true as was the tornadoes?
This blog isn't my personal diary. It's my writer's journal. There is a big difference.
I'm not an Internet jerk trying to get views by writing things that aren't true.
I am not trying to get sympathy from people by trying to deceive them.
There are people on the Internet who'll do that but I'm not.
I'm a writer.
I may make things up but I don't do it to deceive.
Not a jerk.
If you want to know what's true, because there is true in this blog, (My dad was very sick.), you can always ask me in comments.
But seriously? This blog is about writing.
I'm learning how to hear the world and then translate it into a good story.
I'm trying to find my writer's voice on the Internet.
I'm trying to write and edit.
I'm writing in public to see if the story I'm writing makes sense to the complete strangers who are reading it.
LOL I'm trying to learn to spell and stop using "alot" in a sentence.
I'm learning to write.
For real.

Gentle Readers,
You're going to have to either guess the parts that are true and those that aren't.
You're going to have to either guess the parts that are true and those that aren't.
OR even better? You're welcome to say hello and ask what's real and what isn't. I'd be delighted to hear from you.
But be very very careful what you read here as true or not. You must NOT ASSume. You really must ask.
Got to be real.
Got to be real.
Hugs,
Author Ann
PS True story.
Two true stories.
One. I wrote a story on my old blog about a fella who goes to Cuba. Someone who I'd chatted with was reading it. Got a comment that they liked it and then got a comment that made me smile. I was trying not to write as a man or woman. Even used a nick that was gender neutral. Apparently the person who'd been reading this had decided from my stories what my gender was before he'd read the story about Cuba. In that story, the main character didn't identify themselves as anything other than the child of the narrator. That is they didn't say gender until the very end when the narrator used the feminine pronoun and the word "...daughter..." At that point I got a comment from the fella reading who was asking me if I were male or female. Apparently they'd assumed one and because of the story they were surprised and wondering if it was the other.
Don't ASSume. Ask.
Two
(and the reason for the disclaimer)
LOL I love stories about people and I love writing fiction. To practice I would try to write dialog and fictional stories that were believable as people. My goal is to write stories that you suspend disbelief and are so into the story that you forget that it's not real. We'll I was doing such a good job that I got a comment from someone saying that they thought I had multiple personalities. They were kidding but I got to thinking, "This is the Internet and folks lie in order to take advantage."
So after that comment just about every other post had the disclaimer, "This is 12..." I'm alot
Anyway. The way I'd look at this blog is that it's not the journal of someones life. It's the journal of writing. Like a photo album of fiction
.
Although I must say that the Give Your Stress A Rest idea is a good one real or not.
Happy holiday.
