My comment here isn’t about politics. People are going to think all kinds of things when it comes to politics. This is about the southern. I can read all kinds of books on all kinds of subjects. Can agree or disagree with what they wrote. This is about the “musicality” of words and culture. "

Dear Sir or is it Madam,
I have to introduce myself and tell you the very first thing that I didn’t read this post until after I wrote about the possum. I am sitting here in the dark writing and fuming at the indignity of that possum and it’s threat to my chickens. I’m also listening to Travis Tritt and I’m good with that because I like to here Travis Tritt sing. (Also for the record, I love to hear Miranda Lambert sing because here songs remind me of all the crazy southern women I have met in my life.)
Anyway.
I am southern, born southern, and except for a few mandatory and voluntary forays out into the rest of the universe? I’ve managed to stay put. However, I have been in a kind of exile of my own making here. It’s not because I talk funny for here. I take regular for here. It’s not because I can’t fathom the culture. Lol I can fathom it til the cows come home….
So I’m thinking after reading a post or two I came here by an accident of curiosity and that southern curiosity that my mother said did in the cat. Every once in a while there’s divine in it.
Providence I hope
So hello and please write back even if I seem a stranger and strange.
It’s not me to blame. It’s my southern nature.

I just looked at the clock. I've really got to go get some sleep.
These next couple of posts are all about belonging and home.
Let's start out with Alabama Shakes' song, Rise to the Sun.

Good morning.
Yo UK?

Lol the possum is so much a part of here and then I find this...
I found a web page. I hadn't read it, didn't know it existed before I wrote the blog post about the possum. That whole thing is so much southern that I talk southern to describe it. It's like hearing someone who's gone off to school to learn "culture" coming back home for Thanksgiving.
You spend the school term learning how to act but then you come home.
All these people are there and they've known you since you were small.
They don't care that you're on the Dean's List or that you aced that exam.
Oh no.
They know you from the time you sat in that ant bed when you were four and your Aunt Ethel had to swat them off you. They can remember your first words and worse yet your first date. :(
They don't put you at ease. They don't "coat" you with southern hospitality either. Instead? They put you in your place. It's their job.
They teach you manners and culture.
They have to "torment" you so that you'll know better. Like the story about the guy who went out each morning to swat that seedling with a rolled up newspaper.
Makes it strong. Gives it roots. That way it won't blow over or break in a strong wind.
Thanks to them you know when to say "Yes, mamm." You know when it's okay to say, "Thank you Mizz Katheryn," and when to say "Thank you Mizz Smith." You know how to sit in church. How to eat in polite company. I read that it was the reason why companies loved to hire southern students for jobs. "They just know how to be polite and charming."
Hmmf.
It's a cultural thing or a generational thing but it's definitely a southern thing.
I read the post and then their About section. I thought that this isn't possible.
But I'm guessing that it is.
So I wrote them a letter.
According to the blog comments it's awaiting moderation.
That's good because the posts are current and maybe someone will finally write back.
And they'll speak southern.
:)

PS People blame the South and the heat, I blame the Irish and the Scots. I don't "blame" them, it's just that those cultures have had so much of an influence on the area. They didn't just stay inside the fort. They visited outside too.
They tell great stories about the world big and small.

Now I know where my chicken eggs have been going.... aka How I'm Spending My Fall Vacation...
First?
Public enemy NumberOne.
(I'm thinking of making copies and putting them on telephone posts. Evil possum.! )
I am madder than my rooster at this moment.
There I was in the dark trying to get the last chicken into the roosting pen when...
Let me start over.
It's the middle of the night and the chickens and the dogs started barking. Barking and squawking and I'm in the house thinking that that doesn't sound right. So out I go into the night to see if maybe one of them has managed to fly out of the pen. I should be so lucky. Two of the hens were clucking distress and the rooster and other hens are perched up on the fence. None of them are on their roost. I managed to shoo the rooster and one hen into the enclosure with the other two hens but there was still one left. So I think to myself, "She needs to calm down. Good time to check on the eggs." I have two broody hens that have been "setting". We thought that we'd heard a peep of a baby. I was anxious to check while the hens were up from their nest.
What a surprise.
There inside sitting on the nest wasn't a hen but a possum.
A big, nasty, smiling, egg yokes coming out of his mouth, broken egg shells everywhere possum.
There in the middle of the night, while I was trying to coax that last hen into the roosting area, that possum was munching on my girl's eggs.
That instant? I named him Thomas because he was smiling this big ole grin like it was an honor for him to have caused such malicious mischief. (*See below)
I was not amused.
I managed to get the hen into a safe area and the lid up on the nesting place. Mercy only knows what the neighbors are thinking because every other word I said out loud wasn't nice. I've got my rake trying to contain that furry rodent long enough to get the water hose. The possum just sitting there with egg yoke breath. I couldn't stand it any more.
(Do not lecture me about the sanctity of life, Gentle Reader. That rodent could have killed my chickens.)
At that moment, I did the only thing that I could do.
I sprayed him with the water hose.
I'd keep spraying him too. I didn't want him to EVER come back. Not EVER.
I kept spraying him as he waddled from the hen's nest across the hen yard. I'm thinking that I'll find out how it got under the fence.
It didn't crawl under the fence. Oh no.
And this part really made me mad.
I have 10 feet tall fence around the chicken yard
and that possum climbed it.
Up and over it went, one little possum paw after the other.
Then it proceeded to walk along the edge of the fence and climb down the other side. Like it was a spider monkey on an after lunch ramble.
The entire time I am spraying him with a water hose and he's acting like is a sunny day.
I am so angry.
One third of the eggs in the nest gone and the broody hens all upset. I'm not sure if they'll go back to roosting after this.
:(
*NB I have named him Thomas because he is a mean, evil, BS artist and I don't care for this four legged thief any more than the two legged azz that he's named after.
Boo and hiss ...
:P times 2.

Hey.
One of the photos on my Putin blog didn't show up.
WTF.
Better not be any censor ship on my blog.
Besides President Putin looks fabulous in that fishing photo.
No, it is not disrespectful to President Putin to post those photos because I assume he posted them first and on purpose.
Rock on Prez Putin.
Lookin' good.
Work it ya'll.

Dear Mr. Putin,
Are you going to publish a calendar next year?
I think you should.
Please include lots of out door activities
like hiking
and fishing
in your calendar photos.
You, sir, are cuter than the current James Bond, Daniel Craig.
Dundahdahdah dah dah dah Dundadadahdah da dan < james bond theme
Heck, Mr. Putin, yer cuter than a speckled puppy dawg. :) .
Added to the Santa list. One Mr. Putin calendar.
Yay. !

Dear Santa,
I have been exceptionally good this year. I lost some weight. I ate a salad (or two). I was a good listener to a friend in need. I tried not to ASSume (too much).
Santa, I want some boat parts for the boat and about 1000 feet of dog wire for outside. This year I'm going to dispense with the groveling and just come out and say it.
I need a vacation.
I need a really good gynecologist who has absolutely no trouble with prescribing important medical type things. Estrogen/Progestin are a good thing. Soy milk? Sucks.
I need a good mechanic for my car which while old is really low on miles and still looks fly.
I need my son to knock it off (he know what I mean)
And Santa I need to break this drought known as my sex life.
I am perking up. What's the good of the hormones if you can't do anything about it.
I'm not picky here either. It's not too much to ask for age appropriate. I'm liberal on the looks but not on the sense of humor. That part is non negociable.
And one more thing.
I need Craig Ferguson to go back to being the 2005 Craig Ferguson. This new one looks like he is miserable and might quit.
I think that's about it. Ah one more thing. Remember Sailing Buddy? He's back and personally I don't care for it one bit. Can you please get Sailing Buddy a girl friend and a good reason to live across the country in another state? I'm personally looking forward to Sailing Club without his being anywhere around me. Please?
Get him an acting job AND a girl friend in Bora Bora and I'll be delighted.
Please also get Pup to go to college. It's paid for. He's smart enough. I need his room for an office.
Send photos good looking co eds and letters of acceptance from the college of his choice before he drives me mad.
Yay.
Oh and one more thing. I am tired of being a disinherited slacker person. I'm a writer. It makes me happy. I need a writing gig. This domesticity is not fun.
It sucketh.
:(
That's about it Santa. I'll write again if I can think of anything. Thanks for not letting the water heater be too much of a pain. I'm relieved because now I KNOW when it's going to break down and if we're going to be able to handle it or not. It did and we did.
I hear the sound of pitter patter of size12 shoes tapping their way down the stairs. WB was pizzed off last night. I'm not sure if it's a trend.
Better go see.
Happy day,
WriterAnn
.Not a rant. I'm just tired, tired, ti-erd of getting yelled at about things that aren't my fault. It looks like the world is in general plucked up. Lots of incompetent idiots yelling at other people in the hopes that no on will notice that they, the yeller, is a pluck up.
I'm not playing that game any more.
I'm planning Christmas. I don't care that Holloween hasn't shown up.
Nope.
For me it's about Christmas and being happy.
Leave me alone poopy people.
I am a flower.
A Zen like creature who totally at one with the Universe.
I am free and breezy.
Breathe in.
Breath out..
Just think.
Only (insert number) days until Christmas,
Can life get any better,

Dear Fans OF CraigFerguson,
As most of you know, this week is re runs because TV's Craig Ferguson (CBS) is on vaca-- is working on the road in Canada.
For those who don't belie- who would like to keep up with Craig I think that you can check @craigyferg on Twitter where he actually uses technology to help us all keep up with his and JRT's hijinks on the road.
Fun. Fun. Fun.
If you are wondering why Tv's Craig Ferguson is spending all this quality time in Canada?
I think that there was a pole.
Uh poll.
I think he talks about it in this helpful, informative video...
(You are welcome.)

I'm positively giddy from all this freedom.
Lol I told Pup and WB that I appreciated that they had opinions and gripes. I told them that they should write all those opinions down on a piece of paper, put the paper in an envelope, and send it in as a letter to the editor.
Then I got up and walked out the door marked "I don't care."
It was fantastic.
.
I did it!
I looked up someone from my actual past on the Internet.
I did.
And more important?
I actually found them.
I was soooo surprised but more importantly?
Mr. Most Likely to Succeed?
Mr. I'm learning Chinese because in the future it will be important?
Looks like Mr. Peanut.
I might be wrong about this because after all lots of people share the same name but ---
I'm fine with this being the person I used to know because the fella who used to play music and was the darling of the Philosophy Department now wears polo shirts and hasn't changed his eye glasses since the 70's.
:)
I don't know why I am so happy but I am!!!
Do I want to go say hello?
Oh no.
I'm good.
Can't wait to tell my dad.
My dad thought he was the person most likely to get arrested.
Now?
He's Mr. Responsibility.
Wheeeeeeeeeeee.

What I am looking for in a significant other:
Must like dogs and children.
Must love movies.
Must love Pastafarians, agnostics, Unitarians, and Baptists
Must understand the phrase, "All who wander are not lost."
Must understand how "We'll just stay a minute." can turn into "We really do need to stay the entire night."
Must understand if my friend is getting a divorce? They need someone to vent to but not advice.
Must love Big Bang Theory and the last Dr. Who.
Must understand that I will only like the upcoming DrWho if he wears cloths like the guy in the latest Esquire.
Must love to "run naked through the sprinklers" but not run naked through the sprinklers.
Must understand that alone time is very important.
Must understand that a person needs their quiet space.
Must understand that writers write. Sometimes on Thanksgiving morning. They will have to know their way around a kitchen or a take out menu. Sometimes I just need to write it down. Put the plate on the desk and quietly leave or I will ignore or yell.
Must love music of all kinds and understand why there maybe a morning you'll wake up to opera or bird calls.
Must love art museums and art galleries. Honest.
Note. Someone once asked if I really did love art museums. I do. I really do. Makes me as happy as the World Series and the Iron Bowl.
Must like the World Series and the Iron Bowl.
Must love to hike. Nice if you'd like to tent camp.
Must understand the importance of room service and a suite at the Lowe's Miami Beach.
Must understand why travel is important.
Must like traveling to New York and then going back to the country in Alabama.
Must love to travel over seas.
Must understand the concept of the "World's Largest Ball of String" travel.
Must have a "party piece" and be able to suck it up and get along with the situation. Must also know when to ditch it for the sake of sanity.
Must understand that I didn't choose my family. I inherited my family. We get in, visit, and get out of all unpleasant situations. Smile at the jokes and look interested while in you're in your head your sorting your socks.
Must really love country music.
Must be able to fix a leaky kitchen sink but understand that there's a time to call in the plumber.
Must under the need for independence and the need to be a "lap dog".
Must love horses.
Must be able to take care of the situation so that I can sit quietly and admire their strength.
Must know enough about trouble so that we can get into it and out of it safely.
Must love flowers and understand the power of good jewelry, a great jeweler, and ebay/etsy.
Must love the southern part of me that can neither pass up a good conversation, antique store, or flea market.
Must be able to sit quietly and hold an excellent conversation with someone who's not their age; very old and very young.
Must own and wear a hat.
Must understand the guilty pleasures of a shared secret or bit of gossip.
Must love boats.
Must know how to haul my butt out of bed if I founder.
Must know how to "loaf" creatively.
Must love boats even when they break.
Must be willing to take up a wrench or a hammer when said boat breaks but not complain bitterly if we have to hire a qualified mechanic to fix.
Must understand and love to cook.

Porch light is on.
Key's under the mat.
There's food in the fridge and clean sheets on the bed.
Wake me in the morning.
PS
There's good days and dizzy days and pain days.
Like the weather.
It changes.
I'm tired.
I can use a story to pass the time.
I can use telling a story to pass the time as well.
I need to sleep.
A place to lay my head.
Someone to watch over me.
.
If you only knew how much I needed a conversation.

Seriously?
Who are those people who work so hard to tell us if we're beautiful or not.
I'm not giving that power to anyone but me.
There's just other things to thing about.
(Good day. No pain day. No dizzy day. Okay day.)
Hurray.

Melissa McCarthy.
I'm not going to rant.
I'm not.
Instead?
I'm going to put on the clothes that make me feel fabulous and go out.
My theory is that there are people who are berating themselves because we don't meet some unrealistic size.
When they look in the mirror?
They see too fat, too skinny, too old, too young, too wrinkled, too......
I went back to look at photos from years ago. I remember how insecure I felt at the time. No one looked at me and said the words I needed to hear...
"You are fierce."
So I looked down, studied, and hoped that someone would ask me out.
They didn't and I was beautiful, smart, and lovely as a person.
I wish so bad that I could go back at tell that person in the photo that she shouldn't sell herself short.
I should square my shoulders, lick my lips, and say
The only negative thing I'm going to say about the cover?
It's such a cliché of that backhanded complement,
"She has such a beautiful face. If she'd only lose some weight."
.Cliché.
.PS
After I showed those photos from the past? I went to look in the mirror.
I am fierce.

I don't know what it is about our pets. Cats, dogs, snakes, fish....
we love them.
Kind of like those people in our life that have at one time or the other metaphorically chewed our lives. They mess up but most of the time they keep us from going nuts.
(This has to be one of my favorite monologues. I miss them. Better than the angry ones.)
So today is a dizzy day which is only slightly better than the pain days.
If you are Irish David? I kind of need you to contact me. Please try. If anyone says that I don't want to hear from you? Smile, be charming, and then go around them. Most of the "helpful" people in my life haven't always had my best interest at heart. They've been too busy with their own interests to even check my pulse.
If anyone knows how to get Craig Ferguson ( @craigyferg ) to come visit Atlanta? It sure would make my day.
Will try to write something soon. I'm just being a big baby. Need a hug. :(
Hugs,

Sweet Freedom
I'm kind of tired out but happy.
It really is beautiful today.
Lately, I've had a lot of people making sure that I knew that they didn't care to be around.
I think that it's that old Celtic shunning thing.
Funny.
I was going to have to ask them to shove off. I really wasn't looking forward to that experience.
Instead, they did it for me and I didn't have to go through all the soap opera stuff that I just really don't like. It seems to be their choice. Good for them. Ah sweet freedom.
:)
Lol. Too bad. I'm kind of looking forward to the next part of my life. The only person who I like to be around actually likes to be around me. I don't owe anyone else anything. My parents are going to be fine. Pup is going to be fine. I'm going to be terrific.
I'm in a good place. Can dress up when I want to or I can rock that Hawaiian flowery shirt.
My choice.
And?
My mojo's back.
Sweet Freedom.
"...Someone saved my life tonight..."
.Yay.

Man o man.
Missed the wedding.
I'm sure that it was a beautiful occasion. The bride was probably lovely and the groom probably looked as if he'd been on the "three hour tour in a hurricane" boat ride. Green. I've honestly never seen him happy any of the times I've seen him since the wedding announcement.
The man is supposed to be marrying the love of his life.
Lol. You'd think he'd be happy.
I'm not anti wedding. If you really do love someone, I imagine that it's a pretty good state to be in. I just don't see a lot of happy in relation to marriage. I keep hearing that in marriage, as in life, to be successful you have to make the best of the situation. I have seen happily married where both parties really are happy. My maternal grandparents seem to be happy.
Anyway I woke up at what I thought was one hour before the ceremony. Turns out that was the hour when it was supposed to have begun. I think that maybe that was divine providence though. I thought about it and if the preacher asked, "Does anyone know any reason that these two should not be married..." I might have stood up and said, "I do. Marriage as practiced today is stupid."
Instead I got one hour of sleep and an honest excuse for why I didn't attend.
.
Also? Last night I turned off the LLS in the middle of tweets. I tried again to watch it today but still turned off the show. I'm thinking of recording Jimmy Fallon and then watching it in the AM. It would be kind of a snarky Today Show where the Matt Lauer character is funnier and not bald.
Weird but I thought that I'd be really sad about this but turns out I'm pragmatic about all of it. It's good to have things, living and inanimate, that you care about. Craig Ferguson seems miserable. The groom looks like he's going to war. I have things to do that really do make me happy.
I win.
:)

My dog just came over to me and put both her paws on my leg. Then she looked up and me and whined that whine that means, "You know if you're stupid enough to stay up late into the night writing on that computer, go ahead. But do take a moment and open the door to the bedroom so that I can jump up onto my sleeping bed. I need sleep even if you don't."
Lol. She has made a good argument .

Okay.
So here's the thing.
Today is National Coming Out Day.
I had a friend ("... had..." because he's now dead from AIDS) who was 'happy'.
I loved that man. (Plutonic because he wasn't interested in me. Not that way.)
He was the person who introduced me to dance and Martha Graham.
I would watch that man dance and just be happier than I thought was possible.
He was openly gay.
Never apologized for it.
Always hoped for that great love of his life.
Didn't happen.
Why write about it now?
Well I was looking to see who was reading my blog and it would seem that some Gentle Reader must think that I am 1) gay or a guy and 2) interested in porn "gymnastics"
You would be 1) wrong and 2) wrong.
Not interested and not interested.
I like sex with the opposite sex. If you knew me you'd know that I was celibate. Have been for a long time.
My friend? He told me that someday he was going to meet someone who he was in love with and hand and hand they'd go to a clinic to go get tested for AIDS and then live happily ever after.
He did get tested but he never got the happily ever after.
I don't need porn. Like my friend? I need a relationship.
And for the record, to whoever thought that I'd be interested in porn involving anything?
I'm not.
This isn't one of those indignant comments. It's actually a very quiet and serious reflection about my friend on National Coming Out Day and how he spent his whole life hoping for a relationship.
Sex is easy and cheap.
Love is precious. Worth more than gold.
I just don't need angry or screwed up people in my life at the moment.
I need friends who love me and will miss me when I'm gone.
I need stable, happy, and laughter.
So do you Gentle Reader who came here from that porn site.
I think that you need stable, happy, and kindness as much or more than I do.
Hugs.
I won't kick you out of this blog. Instead?
I hope for you a kind day?
'Cause porn is kind of sad and demeaning to people no matter what their sexual orientation.

Good night you.
I'm so sleepy that I can hardly hold my eyes open.
If it were daylight I'd be (like the song says) "...dappled and drowsy and ready for sleep..." in a puddle of sunshine in the corner of the living room. At this moment it's dark and there's no warm sun beam to keep me warm.
And to think
"...You were only waiting for this moment to be free..."
And I was only waiting for this moment to take off this stupid bra.
Ahh now that is better.
'Night.

Sometimes I think that it would be so much easier to be a guy.
I hate the waiting.
Once I decided to stop the insanity and asked the guy out.
He accepted and cooked a really impressive dinner for us.
Unfortunately?
There was no chemistry.
I was lucky that he didn't laugh when I asked him out.
It wasn't the rejection that worried me.
Nope.
It was that he would laugh at me or think that I was weird because I asked him out.
Shouldn't have mattered
but it did.
So should I call this person who I haven't heard from in years and years?
Or should I not.
Opinions welcome.

going to sleep. Filled up with cheese sandwich and ice water. Sleepy. Need hug and a kiss. Not from the dog. Sigh. More likely to get kiss from dog.

Ya'll you know those dream bubbles? We'll some of them had BAD dreams in them. Woke up at 4AM from bad dream. Now the dogs are barking and scary.
Yikes.

Update. The fella I thought was a jerk. The one I wrote about. The one who used is disability to manipulate people into doing what he wanted them to. Well he's back. He was delightfully AWOL for months and now he's back. It's awful. I wish that he'd go away and find other people to pester.
Please.
PS I don't dislike him because of his disability. Nope. I don't like him because he uses people with his disability. :(
Good news? My son is back from his trip. Yay. I missed him but I think that he had adventures with his dad. Double yay.
Off to see stats.
WB says maybe I might be in trouble because I said President V Putin looked "hot" in his photos. My son wondered if I'd get in trouble for writing that Prez Putin was going an excellent job handling his pole. (fish pole idio see previous blog posts.)
Dunno.

Sigh.
Can't you feel it?
That slight studder, that shutter, in the force of life. Not as great as that shake known as an earthquake. This is more like the shutter in a heart when it skips a beat. When something surprises and you drawn in a quick breath of relief or not.
You looked me in the eye with that look that said, "What's the use." Meanwhile your mouth is simultaneously moving and talking with some kind of hope that you'll be wrong.
I know.
I know about what you are talking about. I just wish you knew that I knew. Your eyes keep saying, "Please know." I'm not sure why when I say, "No worries, I might not know everything but what I don't know I can look up. Why are you so sad?"
Lol. I'm here.
It's the differences that make it interesting.

Tai Chi?
Gentle Reader, you do Tai Chi?
Lol I may not know you but I love Tai Chi. The meditative kind for health and flexibility. Love to do it. Takes a bit to learn how to do it but once you get the hang of it? It's just the best. If you're just starting out, The first until the move "moves' Tiger to Mountain" is called the mini set. Learn that well as it has all the movements required for all 108 moves.
If you get a chance to comment, I'd love to chat with you. I know that folks think, "How difficult can Tai Chi be?" To them I'd say, "How difficult is it to draw the perfect circle."
I've got to go (see next post).

Okay now pay attention, Gentle Readers.
One, I have to go to the bathroom.
Two, there is someone from the UK that's been reading my blog.
I don't have lot of time to fool around here. My bladder can only stand so much torment.
I'm going to ask to the point if the Gentle Reader from the UK thinks that they know me.
UK is a big place.
If you do?
(I hate to be crude here but I'm wiggling in my chair.)
To the person in the UK. If you think you know me then "grow a pair" and comment.
That is what the comment section is for.
Or tweet.
Or email.
I hear they still have carrier pigeons.
But for Heaven's sakes, say "Hello."
If not.
eek!
Sorry.
I love good surprises, long walks on the beach, and animals.
Partial to horses (can't afford one), boats, and ....

You can certainly figure out how to find me.

When you're young and have all the time in the world, it can seem that the sounds of old age are very far away. Even as middle age comes into view, what is happening at the moment, can drowned out that creaking sound. Then one day you are sitting in a park or a restaurant and the people who are around you look old. "Boy they've changed." you'll say.
Then you'll look at your own reflection in the glass."
My cosmic "to do" list is growing short.
There is a someone who I've known in this life who I'd like to at least visit with. That reflection in the mirror shouldn't really matter to either of us, but for some reason to me it does. It's been so long since we've seen each other. Back then there wasn't any gray nor wrinkles next to my eyes. It shouldn't matter because those are the wrinkle that show up when I smile. The gray in my hair is actually not so bad. In my head and in my "heart", I'm still fierce. I'm actually stronger and much more interesting than I was way back then. Still in my mind there's the fear that I'll see the disappointment in their eyes because I no longer look like I do in their "mind's eye".
I believe in love.

Lol unrelated but true. I also luv it if the LLS with Craig Ferguson would do this song as a cold open.
The intern who used to dress up in the black leather outfit looks like President Putin.
And Tim Meadows would be puurrrrfecto as Obama.
And CF, of course? Clinton.
I'd watch and buy the calendar.
Wishin' and hopin' and prayin' .... Sigh.
.
I'm not holding my breath but a girl can dream.
.....
Oh no. I have been invited to a wedding and now I have to buy a wedding present. I'm not particularly good at this and there is no "The bride and groom wants...." lists anywhere. I'm thinking that towels are good but then again, I haven't a clue what color. I tried to buy a clock on ebay but got out bid. (It was a nice clock.) Thought about a wok from the WalMart or a toaster oven from Target but I dunno if they even cook. I am lost. Send help....
Sign me,
The Runaway Bride
.
PS Don't do it. Live together. Lol the groom already looks whipped.
....
Stay tuned.

Someone's been reading on their eyePhone.
I don't know if you ever watched the kid's show Romper Room. On that show there was a lady who used to look in her magical mirror and then say...
Romper, bomper, stomper, booo.
Tell me tell me tell me true!

I worry about this world when we can devalue words like "friendship" by creating a Internet were we call friends people who's names we do not know.
I can't do that. I know it looks easy. Be nice and they're nice and presto chango? Friend.
Like Instant Karma, the Easter Bunny, and Santa Claus it sounds nice but when you look at it? It is still a lie.
From this moment on, I am not calling anyone a friend or "friend" unless I have looked them in the eye, asked for three forms of valid ID, and done a background check.
I'm really getting sick and tired of being the nice person in the room.
No more nice person until I get a note from your Mama.

Sheesh.

One of the craziest things that I ever did (besides thinking that I could be a mom and could some how find love and ever after) was bungie jump off a perfectly good support.
There I was standing there all hitched up to the harness and all that bungie cord that was supposed to let me fall almost to the ground and then magically I'd be yanked up into the Heavens. Safe.
Lol. I made the guys who run the jump go first. The theory? That if they'd jump first, I'd know that it was safe.
So they did.
Off that platform they jumped as if it was the most natural thing in the world. Fearless. Then up into the air and then down toward the ground and then up into the air and down until finally the twisting and turning of their choice slowed to a decision of sorts. No fear all faith.
Then it was my turn.
At first I tried to jump off facing that long jump. I tried but the notion of the consequences of that decision were to great to face forwards. So I turned my back on all the logical consequences and the possible damage to life and limb and I jumped.
There aren't words to describe the feeling. It was as if part of me was still on that platform but the other part was free in the most uncomfortable way. As I fell, I was yelling. Later I was told that the swear word for fecal matter could be heard all over the park in one long extended syllable that was highlighted by a perfunctory "t" sound. They guys who ran the thing and the guy who jumped before me were delighted. Especially the second time I tried it and this time the expletive for the same bodily function ended in a less frantic but no less afraid "p". They tried for a third time and even offered to give me a tshirt if I would but honestly twice was enough.
So what does this post have to do with love and it's concepts?
Well, I was in love with someone who wasn't back. For years, I told myself that being friends was good enough since I honestly didn't think that they felt the same.
Now I feel different.
Ya got to jump and risk all that pain in order to experience the joy.
Anytime is the right time to call.
If the line is busy?
Try again.
If that don't work there's always email.

Oh mercy, Dear Person that I never thought that I'd ever hear from again. Is that you? If so please tell me something that only you and I would know. Kind of a test. I know that there are a few things that you would know. Think hard. I'm not unreasonable it's just that the Internet is very, very, big and there may be other people with your name trying to contact a person with my name.
Think.
If it is you? Hugs. :)

This morning I woke up thinking about change.
By breakfast I was telling my so of 29 years that there might not be a year 30.
Nothing puts the "oh" in our oatmeal like a breakfast conversation about leaving.
Change is good. It's going to happen because of and inspite of our 5 year plans. Some of it's expected. Some happens because of hard work. Some change happens because of bad luck or bad timing.
Then there is the change that sheer force of will or denial we refuse to see until it's grabbed us by the collar and yelled in our face. So close it finally is that you can feel it's breath. "I will not be ignored." it says. And finally it won't be.

My son asked," If you don't like the way the LLS is now, why do you watch it at all?" Why do I?
It's funny. When I first saw CF's tryout for the LLS gig, I was instantly taken with the "something about the man" behind CF. His producer called him "lightning in a jar". I laughed because he was like the uncle with the dry sense of humor who married your aunt. He's the one that says what we might love to but can't. At the time the world was still smarting from the aftermath of September 11th. For an hour, 5 times a week, there late in the night it was okay to laugh at just how insane the world had become. While Uncle Sam was going on and on about the evils of this and what we should do about it, this Uncle was cracking jokes about the situation. We could laugh and we could breath. We could remember that no matter how scary things were, we could still laugh. To me that was Craig Ferguson.
He was the fearless and creative that I wished that I could be.
Now?
Not so much.
So why do I still watch?
Because.
Because somewhere a long the way, I began to think of this fellow not as just another late night talk show host. I began to think of him as a friend.
And that is why I still watch. If you've had a friend for a long time, you'll understand when I say that you don't give up on your friends. so night after night I've been watching and hoping that I'll see something new. That he'll get tired of the robot and the horse. Maybe he'll try something new or bring back something old and I'll see the CF that I got me to laugh.
That said...
Dear @Craigyferg, The time has come to push the robot out of his nest and make room for something new. JRT is a talented man. He'll do fine. You, on the other hand need to get out of your rut. Try something. Try anything. You might not be tired of the penis jokes but as a fan? I am.
Please, I'm running out of excuses to watch your show. cAnn in Blogspotville.

I was reading on the Internet about a new project for Josh Robert Thompson. He's the voice of the LLS's Geoff Peterson. He's launching an online variety show with characters that he's created and impersonations of actors and celebrities. As I looked at the photos of the characters, I was reminded of all the characters that Craig Ferguson used to do on the LLS. This was before JRT came along.
It got me to wondering why the LLS stopped the skits and characters. Why there is only CF riffing with the robot and the pantomime horse. Why is the show now, the Geoff Peterson show with CF and the horse? If the puppets and the skits and characters are so dated, why is JRT introducing an online show that pretty much looks like the older LLSwCF?
www.rsanews.com posts older videos from before JRT's GP showed up. These shows are inventive and highly entertaining. The meta joke on line was that with each creative bit there would be a time when CF would grow weary of it and then replace it with something new. It looked exactly like JRT new Internet show.
...
I used to work in a family business. It allowed me to see both sided of who and why folks who worked there where hired. The woman who did the hiring and managing had a theory that it was best to hire people who were destined for better things. She expected that all her hires would go to college or go on to manage/own their own businesses. While they worked for her, she made sure to train and encourage them so that they'd be prepared for college. Like every skit on the LLS show, from the very moment they stepped into the door, it was understood that they would leave for a better future and would be replace with another person. It was a very good policy because she always had excellent staff who had new ideas and weren't "stuck" in a job that they hated. Everyone was better for the process.
...
You must be wondering what the paragraphs above have to do with each other. I can't say that I woke up thinking about either CF or JRT. I actually woke up thinking about change in general. I was thinking about the planned for changes and the changes that happen while we're planning something else. I was thinking about how my mother hired people with the expectation that they were going to leave. Must have been the teacher in her heart to train them to take the things that they'd learned from her and then use it.
Each morning I wake up to a slightly older and slightly different me. Try as I might, there will be something new, welcome or unwelcome, that has changed in my life. If I use that notion, ride my life changes like a surfer does a wave, I stand a chance of having some control over what happens. I might even grow and be happy with the results. It might be good to look at life like my mom hired, "her girls". Maybe I should wake up with the expectation that I should learn what I can here because I'll be somewhere else tomorrow.
...
I love to look at the old LLS videos. They're still as fresh and inventive as the very first time that I saw them. I've enjoyed the novelty of the robot as well. However, I feel as if the show has stopped changing. It's stopped riding the wave of what is happening now. It's stuck.
I'm glad to see this new endeavor by JRT. I would expect him to grow and then, like my mom's hires, I would expect him to leave for better things. I expect the LLS to be different and better for his involvement. I would encourage him to go follow his creative dream. Then I'd expect some new influence to take his place.
...
I am worried that the person who'll leave will not be JRT but Craig Ferguson. With the same thing night after night? Maybe he already has.

I Want the old Late Late Show Back
7.0
By airstreamer, Jun 09, 2013
Let me start by saying I Tivo Craig every night so I haven't missed a show in years.... I used to have such a crush on him... was actually disappointed when he got married... as if... He used to be so hot, and his show was, and still is the best late night show.... but its lost a lot of what made me love it... He used to be cute, but then he got that Mr. Cleaver crew cut hairdo... and started wearing three piece suits and got rid of the puppets and his monologue is now about his penis instead of interesting stuff that he used to talk about.... . I anticipate everything he's going to say now, because he says the same thing over and over... "See what I did" for example. The only part of the show that's good is the opening before the intro, with audience members, and guests if they're good.... the penis monologues the tweets and emails... terrible.... I rarely watch the whole show past the monologue unless a guest is someone I really like. Its a shame its going downhill.... it seems to be related to moving to the bigger studio, although he had the bad haircut before that.... if you look at the picture he shows sometimes, with his ferrets that's the haircut that made him so hot! "
I know that there are other fans who love the Geoff Peterson with Craig and the horse but people are beginning to complain.
